CALANGUTE: A 22-year-old West Bengali youth was taken into custody by the Calangute Police after he allegedly stole a gold chain valued at Rs 1.5 lakh from someone in Calangute four days prior.
On October 23, next to the parking lot and the public restroom outside the Bandodkar Statue, a man named Santosh Akki reported to the police station that his gold necklace, valued at Rs 1.5 lakh, had been stolen.
Rasib Mulla, a native of Sungarpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal, and a resident of Parra, Canca, was arrested by police during the course of the investigation.
Rasib admitted to the crime during questioning, and at the accused’s request, authorities retrieved the stolen chain.
Under the general direction of North Goa Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal, additional investigation is underway, overseen by Calangute PI Paresh Naik and Porvorim SDPO Vishwesh Karpe.
