CALANGUTE: Vijay Harvalkar, 27, of Karmali Budruk, Valpoi, was taken into custody by the Calangute Police in a prompt reaction to a suspected chain-snatching incident.
Around 4:10 a.m. on January 1st, the incident happened close to the Inspiration Shack on Calangute-Baga beach.
Sandeep Vernekar of Khobravado-Calangute filed the complaint, alleging that the accused stole a gold necklace from one of Vernekar’s clients, valued at around Rs 1.5 lakh, and then ran away.
The accused was taken into custody on Wednesday after an inquiry headed by PSI Vighnesh Naik.
The BNS 2023 Act’s Section 304(2) has been used to charge the defendant. The situation is still being investigated.
