New Delhi: Chandan Caro and Ishita Colaso stole the spotlight by securing double crowns at the 2nd All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament held at the Multipurpose Stadium in Fatorda.
Organised by the Ponda Table Tennis Sports Club under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association, the tournament witnessed some impressive performances from the state’s emerging paddlers across various age categories.
Top seed Chandan enjoyed a dominant run to the titles, defeating Ruhaan Shaikh 3-0 in the Boys Under-15 final before producing another commanding display to overcome Rishan Shaikh by the same margin in the Boys Under-19 final.
Ishita matched the feat in the girls’ categories, first registering a comfortable 3-0 victory over Aarna Lotlikar in the Girls Under-15 final before defeating Neeza Kamat 3-1 to capture the Girls Under-19 title and complete a memorable double.
In the Boys Under-11 category, top seed Ashank Dalvi delivered a composed performance to defeat Aarish Shaikh 3-1 and lift the championship trophy. The Girls Under-11 title went to top seed Anaya Shukla, who produced a dominant display to register a straight games victory over Vanlalhriapuii.
The Boys Under-13 final produced one of the most exciting contests of the tournament as second seed Ishaan Colaso edged past top seed Yug Prabhu 3-2 in a thrilling encounter to claim the title.
Another upset followed in the Girls Under-13 final, where second seed Tisha Shaikh stunned top seed Sachi Desai with a 3-1 victory to emerge champion in her category.
