PANAJI: Claiming a fraudulent Survey conducted by the DLR to benefit an Illegal Construction at Old Goa, the people’s front called Save Old Goa has demanded an inquiry and filed an FIR with the police and the ACB against the DSLR employees for committing fraud.
In a memorandum submitted to the DSLR, Save Old Goa said the people of Goa are agitated with the various Goa State Departments for granting permissions / licenses/ approvals fraudulently in the names of Mr. Jose Maria
De Gouveia Pinto/ Mrs. Suvarna Suraj Lotlikar to carry out an illegal construction of a new building structure in the Protected Area at Old Goa.
“This issue relates to a new construction coming up within the Protected Area (within the meaning of section 2 (i) of The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958) around three protected monuments i.e., Chapel of St. Cajetan, Arch of Viceroy and Largo of St. Cajetan altogether with the minor monuments and adjacent areas,” it said.
They added, “This construction is coming up, overriding the objections of the office of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), who had ordered to stop work.”
The memorandum says that it becomes evident that your department’s officers have connived with the applicant Mr. Jose Maria De Gouveia Pinto/Mrs.Suvarna Suraj Lotlikar to carry out an illegal construction of a new structure in the Protected Area at Old Goa, by falsely portraying that there existed a structure measuring 397 square meters on the plot. Further, your department has changed the land records of the state of Goa on the basis of this fraudulent survey.
“Therefore you are required to do the following, within 15 days of receipt of this letter, failing which, we will be forced to take this up in a court of law,” they said.
Save Old Goa has demanded an enquiry and file an FIR with the police and the ACB against the following employees of your department, namely field surveyor Feroz Sayed and Head Surveyor Manguesh Kholkar, for committing fraud.
“Immediately update/correct the survey plans and show the said structure admeasuring 51.1 square meters on the survey records of survey no 4/1 of village Ella,” they said.
The letter is signed by Peter Viegas, Hugo Gonsalves, Glean Cabral and Mrs. Milagrina Couto.
