PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr.Pramod Sawant today held a meeting of Goa Handicraft Rural and Small Scale Industries Development Corporation to discuss various issues pertaining to the strengthening of the Corporation.
The Chairman of GHRSIDC, Pravin Arlekar, was present for the meeting held at Paryatan Bhavan, Panaji.
The meeting discussed various issues pertaining to the growth of the GHRSIDC. Chief Minister Dr Sawant reviewed the various schemes and activities conducted by GHRSIDC directed to implement and incorporate various revenue-oriented services to strengthen the Corporation.
The meeting also decided to conduct training programmes for local artisans for operating Charakha and Pottery wheels, thereby generating employment in the rural areas.
Chief Minister Dr Sawant also directed GHRSIDC to initiate various programmes related to up-gradation of Coir based commercial activities in coordination with the Handicraft Department.
The discussion was held on setting up a centre of Lijjat Papad in the State, thereby providing employment opportunities for local women.
Director, Handicraft Department Arvind Bugde, Managing Director, GHRSIDC, Smt. Darshana Narulkar, Director, Khadi and Village Industries Commission Shirish Tambe and other Officers were present for the meeting.
