MAPUSA: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has reaffirmed the Goa Government’s commitment to restoring and rejuvenating the state’s rivers, stating that the initiative is aimed at strengthening water security, supporting agriculture and enhancing climate resilience.
Highlighting the rejuvenation of the Tar River in Mapusa, the Chief Minister said the project marks a significant step towards sustainable water resource management.
According to Sawant, the river rejuvenation project will improve irrigation facilities for farmers, enhance agricultural productivity, reduce the risk of flooding and promote efficient water management across the region.
He said the government is undertaking such initiatives to preserve Goa’s natural resources while ensuring long-term environmental sustainability and strengthening the livelihoods of the farming community.
The Chief Minister added that river restoration projects form an important part of the state’s efforts to build resilience against climate-related challenges and secure water resources for future generations.
