Bicholim: Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Thursday visited the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Centre in Bicholim and reviewed the Nisargruna Rapid Composting Technology introduced by the state government in association with Sampurnearth and IndiGo.
During the visit, the Chief Minister was given a demonstration of the technology, which is designed to process biodegradable waste in a decentralised manner within 48 hours.
Sawant said the innovative system promotes scientific waste management while helping reduce transportation costs, fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. He noted that decentralised processing of organic waste can significantly improve the efficiency of waste management systems across the state.
The Chief Minister said the initiative represents an important step towards sustainable waste management and the adoption of circular economy practices in Goa. He added that the technology offers an eco-friendly and scalable solution for local bodies, institutions and communities seeking effective waste disposal mechanisms.
Sawant further said the initiative aligns with the state’s vision of a Green Goa and Clean Goa by encouraging environmentally responsible waste management practices and reducing the environmental impact of waste transportation and disposal.
