PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that he has sought data from both the district collectors regarding encroachments and allotment of communidade land.
“I have asked for communidade wise data,” he said. Sawant added that he will take the opinion of Advocate General Devidas Pangam as regards regularization of houses on communidade land.
He was speaking to media after holding a meeting with villagers of Serula Communidade. Sawant said, he is firm on his stand of amending the Tenancy Act to give relief to Kul Mundkars of Goa.
Residents from Porvorim residing in the Serula Comunidade area met Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant with their grievances.
Residents had bought plots from Serula Comunidade and are residing in houses built with all due permissions on the said plots.
However they continue to face legal actions due to multiple cases against them.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has assured full assistance to protect the homes constructed on these lands with the residents’ hard-earned money.
Sawant said that this law is not to regularize slums but to protect Goan houses.
“Sometimes the Comunidade issues a letter of permission for construction and the same is denied by the next committee. If people have the letters issued by the comunidades they will be accepted,” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister also said that “those who had purchased land and built houses and obtained water and electricity connections before 2014 were asked to apply for regularisation of their houses.”
Due to some issues, these people have not completed the procedures and a few are now facing demolition. We extended the opportunity for regularisation of the houses thrice, except on comunidade land, and have extended the time.”
