BICHOLIM: In view of rise in covid-19 cases the Bicholim Municipal council and the merchants from Bicholim have decided to observe five days complete lockdown in Bicholim.
A special meeting in this regard was today held in the BMC where this decision was taken.
Speaking to media the BMC chairman, Kundan Falari told that from tomorrow till Sunday they have decided to keep all the establishments in the town closed.
“There is increase in cases of corona in Bicholim and hence we had convened a meeting and it was decided to close all the shops for next five days” Falari told.
Banks, pharmacy and petrol pumps will remain open during this time. The Bicholim MLA and speaker, Rajesh Patnekar supported the move and told that this was the need of the hour.
“This is the second phase of covid-19 and entire state is struggling to keep it under control. Government has kept partial lockdown but most of them have demanded for complete lockdown.” Patnekar told.
The decision whether to continue lockdown for the next week will be decided on Sunday after a review meeting.
