CANACONA: Stating students from Canacona preferring to study in Govt. College, Quepem are put to undue traveling hardships, Congressmen met Kadamba authorities to facilitate direct bus services from Polem – Canacona to tide over the problems.

Government College, Quepem having been a favourite for many of students from Canacona as it has upgraded infrastructure, quality teachers, modern amenities, students, even from the remotest area of Canacona, prefer to travel a long distance to reach Quepem College.

Many of these students are forced to change 2-3 buses to reach Quepem. While again, the campus of Quepem College is situated 2 km away from the main road again the students are compelled to walk a further distance of 2 km to reach college. Despite such odd situations, still students from Canacona prefer to study in Quepem Govt. College’, GPCC General Secretary Janardhan Bhandari said.

According to Bhandari, Students’ fraternity from Canacona from the last many years have been demanding adirect Kadamba Bus service from Polem (Canacona) to Govt. College, Quepem Campus to facilitate them to reach college in time. Due to non-availability of direct bus service, they always reach late and had to also leave the college campus early thereby resulting in losing their practical/lectures which ultimately affect their study.

They had submitted a number of memorandums to KTCL and had met local MLAs, Ministers to resolve their genuine problem but nobody bothered to solve the woes of these poor students, though most of these students belong to SC, ST communities which come from poor families’.

Congress leader Janardhan Bhandari, has raised a number of issues which affects the lives of common Canaconakars and has successfully resolved it giving reliefs to the affected people. Recently, students from Canacona approached Bhandari requesting to solve their long pending demand of direct bus service from Polem to Quepem College Campus.

After realising the difficulties of the students, Janardhan Bhandari assured his fellow Canaconakars to solve their problem at the earliest so these students can concentrate properly on their education.

On Thursday, Janardhan Bhandari submitted a Memorandum to Asst. Manager, Kadamba Margao Depot Girish Gaude, and appraised him about the woes of the students belonging to poor SC/ST families and requested him to start a Kadamba Bus service immediately from Polem to Quepem College.
