MAPUSA: Senior leaders of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), led by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, visited prominent religious sites in North Goa on Friday, offering prayers for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state.
Accompanied by Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and other party functionaries, the delegation visited the revered Shri Devi Lairai Temple at Shirgao and the Church of Our Lady of Miracles, popularly known as Milagres Saibinn, in Mapusa.
The delegation included Congress Vice President Sunil Kawthankar, General Secretary Moreno Rebello, District Presidents Adv. Shashank Narvekar and Mangaldas Naik, Youth President Adv. Archit Naik, Mahila President Pratiksha Khalap, and leaders Samil Volvoikar and Adv. Amit Palekar. They were joined by Zilla Panchayat members and former representatives from across the state.
At both sacred places, the leaders offered prayers seeking divine blessings and reiterated their commitment to fostering communal harmony and upholding Goa’s rich cultural traditions. The visit underscored the party’s emphasis on unity in diversity and respect for all faiths.
Speaking on the occasion, Alemao highlighted the importance of collective prayer and social unity, stating that Goa’s strength lies in its shared heritage and communal harmony, which must be preserved and nurtured.
Congress leaders also interacted with devotees and local residents during the visit, extending greetings and reaffirming their dedication to serving the people of Goa.
The visit was organised by the Office of the GPCC as part of its outreach and engagement initiatives across the state.
