PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar today categorically clarified that there should be no confusion, speculation, or misinformation regarding the Congress Party’s stand on political defectors.
The decision taken in 2022 under the leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi that individuals who betrayed the mandate of the people and defected from the Congress Party will not be given party tickets remains unchanged and firmly in force.
“The Congress Party has always stood for ideology, commitment, and loyalty. Those who abandoned the party for personal ambition and political convenience cannot expect to return and seek rewards at the cost of dedicated Congress workers who stood by the party during its most challenging times,” Girish Chodankar stated.
He emphasized that the Congress Party values the sacrifices made by thousands of loyal workers, leaders, and supporters who remained steadfast despite attempts to weaken the organization through engineered defections and political opportunism.
“The Congress Party will always honour and protect the interests of those who remained committed to its principles and fought against the anti-people policies of the BJP government. Loyalty to the party and commitment to public service will continue to be the guiding criteria for leadership responsibilities and electoral opportunities,” Chodankar said.
The GPCC President further asserted that the Congress Party is focused on strengthening its grassroots organization and preparing for future electoral battles with dedicated workers who have earned the trust and confidence of the people through their consistent service.
“The message is clear: the Congress Party stands by those who stood by the Congress Party when it mattered most. There is no change in the decision taken under the leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi, and there will be no compromise on the principles of loyalty, integrity, and political accountability,” he added.
The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee remains committed to rebuilding public trust and providing a credible alternative to the BJP government through principled politics and dedicated grassroots leadership.
