PANAJI: Priti Chavan and Tanishka Chavan, two female constables who were detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting constable Prathamesh Gawade’s suicide, have requested release.
On Wednesday, the District and Sessions Court is scheduled to hear the applications, and the Crime Branch is scheduled to object to the pleas.
The two were detained the day before following a full day of interrogation at the Crime Branch office in Ribandar. They were remanded to 14 days of judicial prison on Tuesday. In his last video, Gawade also blamed his death on Akash Chavan, who is purportedly fleeing.
Following the transfer of the case from the local police station, the CB filed a formal complaint against the three.
In the video, which the department first ignored, the 22-year-old policeman accused Akash and the two LPCs of “mental torture and harassment.”
