PANAJI: The washroom signboard at Manohar International Airport has landed Goa Government in trouble as it has picture of Basilica of Bon Jesus, Old Goa.
The picture has gone viral on Social media after activist Hsailendra Velingkar shared the post.
The sentiments of the Christian community has been hurt, say leaders.
Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said the MOPA airport standee is proof of haste, waste & unaccountability in government spending – Yuri Alemao
“The total recklessness in spending and allotment of contracts to event managers without scrutiny stands exposed with the standee at Mopa International Airport showing a washroom picture with Basilica of Bom Jesus,” he said.
He said this is not just an isolated issue but a glaring instance exposing that the government lacks the expertise to float tenders and has become immune to any criticism.
“They begin the day with event management and end with another event management wasting public money. Everything is imported from outside the State. Swayampoorna Goa is only lip service and lip talk,” he charged.
The washroom picture with Basilica of Bom Jesus where the remains of Goa’s patron Saint are housed is an insult to Goa and Goans across communities. This has hurt the sentiments of each and every Goan irrespective of faith, he added.
