VASCO: Cortalim MLA Anton Vas, along with other leaders, including former minister Prakash Velip, and ZP Merciana Vas, on Wednesday evening arrived in Vasco to congratulate Gracina Colaco for topping the NEET exams.
Colaco, a student of St Andrews, probably was the first girl from the ST community to have topped the NEET exams.
Speaking to the media later, Vas said that Gracina Colaco had made the entire state proud with her achievements and especially the ST community.
“It is a matter of pride for our community that our girl Gracina Colaco has topped the NEET exams, and she has set an example for others to follow. She has worked very hard, and she has a very bright future. She has plans to be a doctor, and I want to assure her and her family members that I will support her in every possible whenever they may need my help. I wish her all the best and hope that she, as a doctor, will contribute her service to Goa,” said Vas.
Former Minister Prakash Velip said that it was a great achievement for a girl from the ST community.
“I am a teacher, and I know the efforts and sacrifices required to achieve such great marks. She has made the entire state proud by getting such marks at a national-level examination. The parents may have also worked hard because the parents also contribute to the child’s future.
We look forward to a bright future and hope that she will continue to shine and bring us more glories,” said Velip
GSL union leader and human rights activist Cyril Fernandes said that Gracina Colaco had made the entire Goa Shipyard Limited proud since her father was an employee of GSL
” It sometimes becomes very difficult for parents to afford very expensive coaching classes. We request the Government identify potential students and offer them a subsidy to afford coaching classes. The students in turn, will achieve laurels and help the state with their achievements,” said Fernandes.
