Margao: Deputy Chief Minister, Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar unfurled the national tricolor to mark the 60th Goa Liberation Day celebrations at Mathany Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao today.
While addressing on the occasion, Kavlekar said, State Government has focused on agriculture sector with Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swayampurna Goa programme and highlighted the efforts of the Government to make Goa Krishi Pradhan State. Setting up of Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) in every Taluka of the State with emphasis on organic products will help farmers double their income he said.
Kavlekar further asserted that to increase cashew production in State 1500 cashew crops have been distributed this year. Also compulsion of Krishi Card have been given relaxation as to benefit all the 60,000 cashew farmers to take the benefit of various schemes, he said.
“To give boost for the mechanized farming Agriculture Department have given subsidy for 387 various agricultural machines like tractors, power tiller, weed cutter etc. this year. Government is focused on Agriculture sector,” he said.
Covid pandemic taught us that one should be self sufficient and for that government is providing support to people in every field. May it be agriculture, industry etc. Pending Kumeri and FRC cases will be resolved in coming days, he opined.
He urged all to come together to celebrate the 60th year of Goas liberation by keeping aside all the differences. He also acknowledged the contribution made by all the previous Chief Ministers for the development of State in every field.
Seeking support and co-operation of the farmers in achieving success of boosting the sector, he pointed that the requisite importance was not given all this while.
Extending his greeting to the people on the occasion of Independence Day, the Dy. Chief Minister underscored the challenges and responsibilities every individual should shoulder to take the State on the path of development and success.
Recalling the hard work and sacrifices of the freedom fighters to achieve independence from the Portuguese empire, he called upon the people to ensure that the State can take pride of the liberation achievements only when the overall development reaches to the last men. Let us all work to achieve the set goals, he added.
The Dy. Chief Minister on his arrival was received by the District Magistrate and Collector, IAS, Ajit Roy and Supdt of Police, IPS, Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh and took the Guard of Honour from the Police and Goa Human Resource Development Corporation contingent.
MLAs, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco and Wilfred D’sa, Additional Collectors, Agnelo Fernandes and Shri Surendra Naik; Senior Government officials, freedom fighters were amongst those prominent persons present on the occasion.
