PANAJI: In the wake of a spike in COVID-19 cases in several countries, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has requested people to follow appropriate behaviour, including wearing masks and getting vaccinated against the virus if you haven’t.
“I request people to follow appropriate behaviour, including wearing masks and getting vaccinated against the virus if you haven’t,” said Rane.
He further said that the health department had received instructions on COVID-19 protocols from the Ministry of Health, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya through his video conference.
“I shall be chairing meetings to ensure strict implementation of these guidelines and direction from the Government of India in the state,” he added.
Rane said that a review meeting with all the doctors and health officials would be taken to make sure everything is in place to tackle the virus.
“Since we are a tourism destination, all measures to build our surveillance system as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, will be taken to ensure timely detection,” HM said.
The Health Minister also said that he would also take the guidance of the Chief Minister to ensure the directed protocols are stringently followed in Goa.
“It is my humble request to the people to take infection prevention measures, stay home if you have suspected or confirmed COVID and keep yourselves and others safe from the virus. Let us unitedly step up once again and fight COVID-19,” he concluded.
