PANAJI: Ina bid to avoid rush at the Chicalim hospital, the administration has decided to shift the COVID vaccination centre at Ravindra Bhavan.
The decision was taken after a joint meeting today, which was chaired by Dy Collector Sachin Desai in the presence of Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, Health Officials and police officials including DySP Raju Raut Desai.
Speaking to media, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida said that vaccination for people will be shifted to Ravindra Bhavan to avoid rush of people who arrive for testing and also avoid mixing up of people who arrive for testing and people who arrive for vaccination.
Dr Anil Umbraskar of Chicalim Sub District hospital said that the hospital was having a tough time handling the positivity rate of 51 percent and also said that a large number of people around 400 per day are arriving for testing.
Dr Umbraskar also said that there could be a chance where the Chicalim SDH could be made into a Covid hospital.
Dy Collector Sachin Desai said that many points were taken up and discussed and there was also a proposal where private ambulances could be roped in to tackle the rising covid cases
