PANAJI: Special Investigation Team (SIT) Land Grab has registered an FIR against 14 named accused persons, including Rohan Harmalkar and some unknown accused persons, for hatching criminal conspiracy at the Office of Mamlatdar Bardez Mapusa.
“FIR against 14 named accused persons including Rohan Harmalkar and some unknown accused persons for hatching criminal conspiracy at the Office of Mamlatdar Bardez Mapusa,” sources from SIT said.
Further, the SIT said that also in furtherance of cheating the rightful owner of the property, prepared forged/false documents of property Survey no.444/8 of Anjuna Village and further allegedly produced the same as genuine before concerned authorities to transfer the ownership rights, thereby allegedly cheated the complainant.
The SIT has, to date, booked more than 44 cases of land grabbing that occurred mainly in Bardez taluka of North Goa district and some cases in South Goa too.
The investigation into the cases has led to arrests of government employees such as Bardez Mamlatdar and also a Sub-Registrar, who had served in Canacona earlier.
The SIT was formed on June 15, last year. However, there is no sign of a single chargesheet in the matter.
SIT is presently investigating 39 cases. Some cases, which may not be construed as land-grabbing cases after investigation, have been sent back to the respective police stations for further investigation.
