VERLA-CANCA: The Calangute Police have registered cross complaints after a violent altercation between two families at Verla, Canca in Bardez on the night of July 26, with both sides accusing each other of assault and issuing death threats.
According to the first complaint lodged by Mrs. Vinita Sagar Gadekar, a resident of Khalap Wado, Canca, six members of the Kambli family—Deepak Kambli, Sunita Kambli, Kiran Kambli, Ganesh Deepak Kambli, Siddhi Kambli and Sushmita Kambli, all residents of Verla, Canca—allegedly trespassed into her family’s business premises at around 10.15 pm on July 26 over a personal grudge.
The complainant alleged that the accused abused her, her husband Sagar Gadekar and sister-in-law Shanaya Gadekar with filthy language before assaulting them with slaps, kicks, fist blows and glass bottles, causing injuries. The complaint further stated that the accused threatened to kill them and damaged shop articles, resulting in an estimated loss of around ₹1 lakh. The case is being investigated by PSI Mangesh Palni.
In a cross complaint lodged minutes later, Mr. Ganesh Deepak Kambli of Verla alleged that at about 10.15 pm on July 26, Sagar Gadekar, Sushant Gadekar and others assaulted his father Deepak Ganesh Kambli, mother Sunita Deepak Kambli and sister Siddhi Deepak Kambli over a personal grudge.
The complainant alleged that the accused assaulted them with slaps, kicks, fist blows, an iron rod and stones, causing injuries, and also threatened to kill them. This case is being investigated by PSI Utkrantrao Dessai.
Police have registered both complaints and further investigation is underway.
