BENAULIM: A Benaulim resident was duped to the tune of Rs 4.5 lakh by cyber seamsters.
The victim Joseph Pinto was lured into paying Rs one lakh to the fraudsters on April 28.
After learning that he was cheated, Pinto intimated the Maharashtra Bank branch in which he has an account.
Despite the initiation of action by the bank, Rs 3.5 lakh more were fraudulently removed from his account.
A complaint to this effect has been filed by Pinto with the Cybercrime Cell of Goa police as well as Colva and Margao police stations.
Pinto stated that when he visited the bank to deposit money and update his passbook, he was shocked to notice that nearly Rs 4.5 lakh had been withdrawn from his account despite directing the bank officials to block his account.
