BICHOLIM: The Dalit Community from Sal village turned out in large numbers on Monday to pay floral tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar on his 65th death anniversary.
Congress leader and social activist from Bicholim, Meghashyam Raut, addressed the gathering and urged the gathering to follow Ambedkar’s principles of compassion and equality in society.
On occasion, the Congress leader spoke on Babasaheb Ambedkar being a politician and social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination towards the untouchables (Dalits).
While paying respect to the leader, the gathering said that to free India from discriminatory practices was the only way to pay homage to Dr Ambedkar.
“Babasaheb fought for the eradication of untouchability from society. He also worked towards upliftment and equal rights for women. Congress will work unitedly to ensure his vision turns into a reality for a better Goa and change the lives of the Dalit community,” said Raut.
