CALANGUTE: Following a drive by Calangute panchayat and locals, a Dance Bar called Devil had filed a complaint against three local youths for damaging their property.
Calangute police said that upon the complaint of Dev Ravindra Yadav, resident of Gaurav Vaddo, Calangute, Bardez, that on 19/012/2022, at about 1.00 am at Devils Restaurant, Khobravaddo, accused persons, namely Rohit Palkar, Sunny Kandolkar, and Swapnesh Vaingankar all residents of Calangute and other unknown persons their common intention assaulted the worker of the complainant by name Moeen.
The complaint said that the accused threatened him with dire consequences of killing him and the complainant if they ran a restaurant and, in furtherance to it, damaged the main entrance door of Devil’s restaurant.
Following this, the people of Calangute gathered and called the local MLA Michael Lobo and Village Panchayat sarpanch Joseph Sequeira to discuss the issue.
Sarpanch Sequeira urged the locals not to take the law into their hands.
“Let us not take the law in our hands. We will follow the law. Panchayat has issued them show-cause notices and let us wait for the proper outcome,” he said.
He added that the Panchayat has made letters to everyone, including the CM’s office and let us wait for the law in our hands.
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said that everything would be done by staying within the legal framework.
“We will do all the work of trapping them legally. I have told the police to follow the process. Otherwise, the court will question the police,” he said.
Lobo said all illegal activities would be closed.
“As it is illegal, touts and pimps have reduced after our drive. I am personally moving around at night. I assure you action will be taken,” he said.
Local said that Pimps and touts are ruling Calangute.
He said that the clubs also forced locals into taking the law into their hands.
