PANAJI: The Project Management Unit, Coding and Robotics Education in Schools (CARES) Scheme, Directorate of Technical Education, Goa has completed 9-weeks of successful implementation of Class VI Elective Curriculum for the students of Std. VI, VII and VIII commenced from 09th January 2023 through Lead Schools across the State of Goa.
63 schools had come forward to take up the role as Lead Schools. Lead Schools are schools which have well-equipped computer laboratories with hardware infrastructure to provide students with hands-on experience.h
The ICT curriculum has two folds: Regular Curriculum and Elective Curriculum. Regular Curriculum is mandatory for all students of Std. VI, VII and VIII and delivered during the school hours. However, Elective curriculum is delivered in the afternoon session to only interested students.
A total of 5500+ students studying in standard VI to VIII have undergone the sessions where the prime focus was to help students acquire knowledge on Block-Based Programming, Computational Thinking, Design Thinking and Problem Solving Skills.
The Elective Curriculum has been delivered in schools by 39 Teach For Goa (TFG) Fellows. These fellows are trained in course content, pedagogical skills and leadership skills which have empowered the fellows to assist the schools in improving the teaching in schools especially in Computational Thinking and Design Thinking. Each fellow is assigned 4-6 schools to undertake teaching.
