PONDA: Disaster waiting to happen on many roads in various villages of Ponda Taluka as pre-monsoon roadside gutter cleaning work halted due to road digging.

The mud excavated one-meter depth has been spread dumped and spread at the roadside, and all drains are choked with mud, and there is yet no sign of cleaning gutters despite rain approaching fast.
At very few places, the workers are seen engaged in cleaning drains; however, most of the roads dug for laying cables have filled the gutters with mud heaps. Vishal Fadte said roadside gutters are choked and covered with mud; thus, road and gutter levels appear at the same level.

While the Locals predict a major disaster on the road, the supervisors of agencies involved in road digging say the road dug for development work would restore and hot mixed only after the monsoon. This means people will have to suffer on the road while moving through it.
