The District Collector North Goa District, Smt. R. Menaka E-launched the District Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign via video conference and a power point presentation today.
Informing that the youth are the most vulnerable group in the Society, Smt. Menaka stressed that the Home Department, Health Department, Education Department and the various media have a very important role to play in curbing the Drug menace in Goa.
The newly formed District Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee, North Goa District formed under the Chairpersonship of the North Collector/District Magistrate has chalked various awareness programmes to reach out to the people in various sections of the Society, so as to curb the menace of Addiction.
The North Goa District is identified as one of most vulnerable District among the 272 Districts in India in terms of substance and alcohol abuse.
Keeping in mind COVID-19 Pandemic different medias will be used to disseminate information to the public. The de-addiction centre in North Goa District Hospital will also help to take Care of the Addicts and their affected family members.
District Level Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Committee is formed under the Chairmanship of North Goa District Collector and have District Superintendent of Police; District Legal Services Authority -Representative of District Judge; District Medical Supdt-Asilo District; District Education Officer-Representing Higher Education and School Education, Probation Officer of Women and Child; NGO, Kripa Foundation. Anjuna and Sahayta, Mapusa; Shri Satvawan G.Bhivshet, Ex. G.C.S Officer and Omprakash Kudtarkar, Ex. Superintendent of Police are members along with Ex Civil Service Officers; Mr. Aneesh V Suresh-Coordinatior Project Monitoring Unit (PMU), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India) as members of the Committee.

Director (Social Welfare) Deepali Naik appreciated the Collector (North) for the guidance in launching the Nasha Mukt Campaign in North Goa.
