COLVALE: In a shocking case of animal cruelty, Colvale Police have registered an offence following the brutal killing of a dog and the subsequent burning of its carcass to allegedly destroy evidence.
According to police sources, the case was registered on April 20 at 20:01 hrs based on a complaint filed by Apurva Naik, DSPCA North Goa. The complaint states that the incident occurred on April 18, prior to 10:00 pm, at an open ground along the Camurlim power grid road in Colvale.
Unknown accused persons are alleged to have assaulted the dog using a hard and blunt object, causing severe internal injuries. The animal reportedly suffered internal blunt trauma, which led to secondary multi-organ failure and ultimately its death. In an apparent attempt to conceal the crime, the accused are further alleged to have burnt the carcass.
Police have described the act as a grave instance of cruelty towards animals and have initiated a detailed investigation to identify those responsible.
PSI Dattaraj Rane of Colvale Police Station is conducting the investigation. Efforts are ongoing to gather evidence and trace the accused involved in the incident.
