Goa, December 2020:With the festive season having commenced in Goa and visitors thronging to the beach, Drishti Marine, the state appointed lifesaving agency has deployed additional lifesavers across beaches in north and south Goa. Additionally patrolling hours have been extended till 23:00 hours to ensure the safety of people through this festive season.
The present arrangement will be in place till the first week of Jan 2021.
“Popular beaches such as Morjim, Arambol, Baga, Calangute, Sinquerim, Miramar, Agonda, Benaulim, Colva, Palolem and more have witnessed a spike in tourist given that it’s the festive season with Christmas and New Year around the corner. We have made arrangements to deploy additional lifesavers across these beaches. They will continue to patrol the beaches and keep a vigilant eye on beach goers till 23.00 hours,” explained Ravi Shankar, who heads operations at Drishti Marine.
Additionally on December 24, December 25 and on new years eve on 31st December 2020 lifesavers will keep a watch on the coast till 01: 00 hrs in the early morning.
Drishti especially cautioned adults to keep a very close eye on children while on the beach and to not allow children to venture into the waters under night fall, no matter how shallow it may be. The agency also advises locals and tourists not to enter the waters after sunset and most certainly restrain to do so if under the influence of alcohol.
