PANAJI: A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered following a serious accident on the Chimbel flyover in Tiswadi on April 14.
According to police, the offence was registered on April 19 at 2.20 pm based on a complaint filed by Vinay Kumar N., a resident of Bangalore. The complainant stated that around 3.20 pm on April 14, he was driving a Toyota Innova (KA03ME2184) from Panaji towards Old Goa when the incident occurred.
The accused, identified as Jolly Ninan, a resident of St Cruz, was allegedly driving a Hyundai Creta (GA07L5216) in a rash and negligent manner. Upon reaching the Chimbel flyover, the Creta driver reportedly changed lanes at high speed without due caution and collided with the Innova.
Due to the impact, the Innova hit the road divider and rammed into an electricity pole, spinning multiple times around it. The complainant and two occupants of the vehicle—Anil Kumar and Ms S. Preethi—sustained injuries in the crash.
Police further stated that the Creta driver failed to stop after the accident and fled the scene along with the vehicle.
Head Constable Dinesh Mulgaonkar is investigating the case.
