PANAJI: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that eight health workers who took Covid vaccine jabs developed mild fever after vaccination, but all of them are fine.
“They had mild fever. They were fine after treatment. They do not have any problem now,” said Rane.
District immunization officer Dr Rajendra Borkar said that 426 health care workers were administered covishield vaccine at seven session sites by maintaining and sustaining the key Covid-19 preventive behaviours.
The break up was GMC 42; Hospicio Margao 65; North Goa District Hospital Mapusa 38; Sub District Hospital Ponda 49; Manipal Hospital 100; Sub District Hospital Chicalim 70 and Healthway hospital 62.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday had said that some individuals may have side effects after they are administered the coronavirus vaccine, as the country gears up to undertake the mammoth task of inoculating its citizens from January 16. This includes mild fever, pain at injection site and bodyache, he said.
The minister, however, assured that there was nothing out of ordinary about it as the effects would be temporary and similar to the ones experienced while getting other vaccines
