Panaji, 24th July’ 2023: – The Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities and the Rotary Club of Panaji Riveira have initiated a collaborative effort to organize Industrial Field Visits for students of various Special Schools in Goa. This noble initiative, aims to provide over 3500 students with invaluable opportunities to explore real-life industrial settings.
Mr. Guruprasad Pawaskar, the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative. He said: “This collaboration is a novel idea to help channelize life ahead for students from Special Schools. It will give them a great opportunity to understand their potential and build on it as creating an inclusive society is the larger aim, and through such interfaces a lot of positive change and a planned pathway can be worked on.”
Under the Guided vision of Rotary Club President, Mr. Danzil Xavier, and Project Coordinator, Ms. Tanvi Doshi Sawant, with an endeavour to empower young minds with special needs, the Rotary Club of Panaji Riveira has taken the lead in coordinating Industrial Visits for students of various Special Schools in the state of Goa.
Industrial visits have long been recognized as an effective way to broaden horizons and enrich learning experiences for students. For children with special needs, including those with autism spectrum disorder, such visits offer unique benefits. The exposure to diverse industries, processes, and technologies can significantly enhance their understanding of the world around them.
One of the key advantages of these visits lies in the sensory experiences they provide. Many children with special needs thrive in environments that offer sensory stimuli. Industrial settings, with their array of sights, sounds, and even tactile experiences, contribute to the sensory development and integration of these young learners.
Moreover, such visits play a pivotal role in exposing children to a wide range of career options and job roles within different industries. By giving them firsthand experiences of various professions, these visits can spark interests and passions, potentially guiding their future career choices and aspirations. Through this exposure, students can envision a world of possibilities, instilling confidence and determination to pursue their dreams.
The Rotary Club of Riveira’s involvement in this ambitious project demonstrates their unwavering commitment to community development and inclusive growth. By collaborating with industries and various stakeholders, the club is actively contributing to the upliftment and empowerment of young students with special needs. The collaborative efforts of the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities and the Rotary Club of Panaji Riveira are a testament to the power of partnerships in driving positive change. Together, they are opening doors to a world of opportunities for children with special needs, nurturing their potential and paving the way for a brighter future.
