VASCO: Family members of the student who drowned during a school-organised excursion to Sattari staged a protest outside Deep Vihar Higher Secondary School, demanding justice and accountability over the incident.
The family alleged that there was negligence in ensuring the student’s safety during the excursion and said they were considering legal action against the school management.
Police personnel were deployed at the school premises as the protest gathered momentum, with authorities taking precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident.
Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam assured the grieving family that an FIR had already been registered in connection with the alleged negligence. He also assured them that the matter would be investigated as per law.
The incident has raised questions over the safety arrangements and supervision provided to students during school-organised excursions.
The school management expressed regret over the incident, describing it as unfortunate, and said the circumstances surrounding the student’s death would be investigated.
The family, meanwhile, continued to demand accountability and appropriate action against those found responsible.
