Panaji, December:The Ashwem coast witnessed a single rescue earlier today of an Indian lady tourist. Similarly, in another incident that took place at Calangute beach , another female tourist was saved from drowning.
Earlier today, at about 12:40hrs, a lady tourist entered into sea along with a ring buoy to have a swim at the Ashwem beach. Drishti lifesaver Rahul Mahale present on the shore continuously advised the public to not go beyond knee level waters while he was patrolling. The lady, despite the lifesaver’s advice ventured into the deep waters where she got pulled inward by a rip current. Noticing the victim struggling for help, lifesaver Rahul relayed a rescue call and immediately rushed to the victim’s rescue. After securing her to the rescue board, she was brought back to the shore.
In another incident that took place at Calangute beach, an Indian lady tourist went for a swim in the red flagged no-swim zone. and got caught in a rip current. Drishti lifesaver Sangharsh Asolkar and Siddesh Bhosle who were on alert, immediately saw the victim struggling to swim and rushed towards her with a rescue tube and surfboard. Drishti lifesaver Karan Tandel also went to assist with a rescue tube and secured her with the help of his colleagues. The victim was brought back to safety and checked for medical issues. She was found to be fine.
