VASCO: Vasco Police have registered a case against a fishing trawler worker from Tamil Nadu for allegedly misappropriating fishing equipment worth over ₹3.04 lakh from his employer’s vessel at Kharewada jetty.
According to the complaint lodged by Neny Remedina Fernandes E De Souza, a resident of Kharewada, Vasco, the accused, identified as P. Robin, a native of Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu, was employed on the complainant’s fishing trawler and had been entrusted with the vessel’s fishing gear, equipment and other movable property.
Police said that between October and November 2025, the accused allegedly left his employment and took away several essential items used for fishing operations. The missing equipment includes two wireless communication sets valued at ₹36,000, an A.S. unit worth ₹77,000, an echo sounder valued at ₹1.52 lakh, a Carmel GPS worth ₹18,000 and a parachute worth ₹21,500.
The alleged misappropriation reportedly affected the trawler’s fishing operations and caused the complainant a financial loss of approximately ₹3.04 lakh.
Based on the complaint, Vasco Police have registered a case under Section 316(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Suresh Velip of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
