MAPUSA: Calangute Police have registered a case against five members of a family for allegedly assaulting a man and threatening to kill him following a dispute over an ancestral property at Canca in Bardez.
The complaint was lodged by Ayaan Ismail, a resident of Dmellowado, Canca, Bardez, alleging that the incident occurred on July 19, 2026, at around 11 am at his residence.
According to the complaint, the accused — Nafiza Ismail Shaikh, Ismail Karim Shaikh, Yasmin Faruk Kachi, Sharukh Ismail Shaikh and Faizan Faruk Kachi, all residents of Canca, Bardez — are relatives of the complainant and have been involved in a long-standing dispute with his father, Abdul Rauf Ismail, over their ancestral house.
Police said that during the altercation, Nafiza Ismail Shaikh, Ismail Karim Shaikh and Yasmin Faruk Kachi allegedly abused Abdul Rauf Ismail using filthy language. The complaint further states that Sharukh Ismail Shaikh and Faizan Faruk Kachi allegedly slapped the victim, after which Sharukh Ismail Shaikh allegedly lifted him and threw him to the ground, causing severe bodily injuries.
The accused also allegedly threatened Abdul Rauf Ismail with dire consequences, including death.
Police have registered an offence, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Dattaprasad Pandit.
