MOPA: A five-year-old boy sustained severe head injuries after being hit by an Innova Crysta while crossing the road near the bus stop at Deulwada, Casarvarnem, Pernem, police said.
The incident came to light after a complaint was filed by Laxmi Bai, wife of Parshuram Dodamani, on September 19 at around 8.20 pm.
According to the complaint, the accused, Tulshidas Chandrakant Pardhi, 44, a resident of Bhedshi, Dodamarg, Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, was driving an Innova Crysta bearing registration number HR-26-DB-7170.
Police said that the accused allegedly drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and, upon reaching near the Deulwada Casarvarnem bus stop, hit the complainant’s minor son while he was crossing the road.
The child sustained severe head injuries in the accident and was initially shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Casarvarnem. He was subsequently referred to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, for further treatment.
Mopa Airport Police have registered an offence under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, against the accused driver.
The case is being investigated by LHC 6521 Sonali Gopal Arolkar of Mopa Airport Police Station. Copies of the case have been submitted to the JMFC Pernem and other concerned senior officers.
