A significant milestone for the country’s infrastructure will be reached on Tuesday when Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari formally opens the first cable-stayed bridge built on a curve in Goa.
The groundbreaking ceremony, which will be attended by local government authorities, will mark a crucial turning point in the state’s road construction plans.
Minister Gadkari will also lay the groundwork for four significant highway extension projects that would cost a combined Rs 2,500 crore.
The government’s dedication to enhancing road infrastructure and promoting the state’s economic development is reflected in these efforts. The following are the four projects:
With an estimated cost of Rs 1,376.12 crore, the Ponda to Bhoma Section (NH-748) project would enhance connectivity between Ponda, Bandora, Priol, Cuncoliem, Cundaim, Bhoma, Corlim, Old Goa, and Panaji. It would facilitate easier traffic flow and improved access to Goa’s cultural centers by streamlining access to important locations throughout the state.
The Zuari to Margao Bypass (NH-66) will provide a more effective route for both long-distance and local commuters by connecting industrial estates, Dabolim Airport, Mormugao Port, and the city of Ponda.
The NH-66 Navelim to Cuncolim Section will improve communication between Panaji, Margao, Dabolim Airport, Mormugao Port, and other nearby South Goan locations, including Karnataka.
Bendordem to Karnataka Border (NH-66): This section would improve road access to the nearby state of Karnataka, benefiting both areas logistically and economically.
The revolutionary importance of these initiatives, which seek to increase connectivity between the state’s two ports and airports, was underlined by a Goa government official. According to the government, these projects are essential to improving logistical effectiveness and promoting Goa’s economic development.
These infrastructure initiatives, spearheaded by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, have the potential to accelerate Goa’s development and lay a solid basis for regional connectivity and expansion.
