PANAJI: Accused in the Gauri Achari Murder case, who is currently in judicial custody at Colvale jail, has pleaded for urgent transfer of him to another cell owing to threat issues from other inmates.
Accused Gaurab Bidre also submitted to the court that he was allegedly assaulted by some inmates and needs dental treatment. This court has directed the jail authority to file a reply on January 30 and to take Gaurav Bidre to Goa Dental College for treatment.
The police have filed a 303-page charge sheet against Gaurav Bidre under Sections 365, 342, 302 and 201 of IPC for allegedly murdering the college professor. It contains statements from 49 witnesses.
The police have stated that they will be adding more evidence to support the charge sheet.
It may be recalled that on June 26, the Old Goa Police arrested Gaurav Bidre, 36, of Sawantwadi, Maharashtra and residing at Old Goa on the charge of abducting and murdering 35-year-old professor Gauri Achari from Corlim.
Prof Gauri was teaching at the Government College, Khandola. On a fateful day, Prof Gauri went to college, and as she did not return home, her mother filed a missing complaint.
