PANAJI: Aspiring digital creators across Goa and the country have been given additional time to participate in the pilot phase of the ‘Gems of India’ initiative, with the entry deadline extended to September 30, 2026.
Launched in August by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting through Prasar Bharati, the initiative aims to discover emerging digital storytellers and create a national collection of content highlighting the culture, heritage, tourism, traditions, achievements and lesser-known stories of districts across India.
The programme provides an opportunity for creators in Goa to document the State’s local heritage, traditions, tourism attractions, crafts, art forms and community stories through digital media.
The initiative is being hosted through the My WAVES section of the WAVES OTT platform, which serves as the digital portal for creator registration and submission of entries.
To participate, applicants need to download the WAVES OTT application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, register using a mobile number or another available sign-in option, and create a Creator Profile under the My WAVES section. They can then select the ‘Gems of India’ programme and upload their original content along with the required details.
Entries can be submitted in formats including short videos, reels, documentaries, podcasts, vlogs and other creative digital video formats.
The initiative is also aimed at encouraging young citizens to document their districts, promote local tourism and traditional art forms, and contribute to building a nationwide repository of authentic local digital content.
With the deadline now extended to September 30, creators in Goa have more time to produce and submit stories showcasing the State’s distinctive identity and lesser-known local gems.
