DABOLIM: In a significant move to improve policing infrastructure at Dabolim Airport, the Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has directed airport authorities to allocate additional space for the airport police station.
The commission has ordered the handover of an extra 121 square metres of basement area to the police. This comes over and above the 190 square metres that had already been directed to be provided earlier.
At present, the airport police station is operating from temporary porta cabins, which the commission noted are inadequate for efficient functioning. After reviewing the situation, GHRC observed that more space is essential to ensure proper operations of both the police station and the traffic cell.
Taking serious note of the constraints faced by personnel, the commission has instructed the airport director to comply with the directive and submit an action taken report by June 23, 2026.
The order is expected to ease operational challenges and improve law enforcement readiness at the busy airport.
