The state government on Thursday through Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) signed an MoU with the University of Miami to bring in cutting edge treatments like mechanical thrombectomy to save citizens from fatal strokes.
Through the MoU, the government intends to send doctors from Goa Medical College for Observership in fields like strokes and other relevant diseases.
“Stroke remains the leading cause of death in India since the last two decades. In order to save our citizens from fatal strokes, it is very crucial that we bring in advanced medical facilities to treat them beyond the golden hour.” informed Health Minister Vishwajit Rane
The University of Miami is one of the few Universities that have successfully deployed the technology of thrombolysing patients beyond the Golden Hour.
“Through the observership, we plan to extend the same to the citizens of Goa.Our key objective remains to treat stroke patients with effective technology beyond the golden hour period.” Rane said
