PANAJI: The Chief Minister of Goa chaired a high-level meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority at Mantralaya to review monsoon preparedness across the state. The meeting was attended by Revenue Minister Shri Atanasio Monserrate, Chief Secretary, and senior officials from key departments including Public Works (PWD), Electricity, Water Resources Department (WRD), Fire and Emergency Services, Health, and representatives of the Indian Navy. During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed all departments to appoint dedicated Nodal Officers to address any queries or issues that may arise during the monsoon period. To support pre-monsoon work, the government approved financial assistance of ₹35,000 for each Village Panchayat, ₹60,000 for B category municipalities, and ₹1,10,000 for A category municipalities. The PWD was instructed to identify and take necessary action against dilapidated and dangerous structures, including demolition if required. Additionally, the WRD has been tasked with desilting rivers to help mitigate the risk of floods. District Collectors have been directed to maintain strict vigilance and put in place systems to minimize damage from any unforeseen situations. The Government of Goa reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining normalcy throughout the monsoon season.
