PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today urged the sports associations in Goa not to boycott National Games 2023 Goa event over delay in funding.
“Government will clear 80% of funds to various sports associations. Associations should not boycott over ‘delay in funding’. Money has already been deposited with SAG (Sports Authority of Goa).” said Sawant.
Speaking further said that Mashal Launch for National Games 2023 will be launched at Raj Bhavan today.
Speaking further, Sports Minister Govind Gaude said
that Rs 19 crore funding has allready been allotted to SAG to buy equipments to Goa Olympics Association.
“The processing of files takes time in government but no one should create hurdles in National Games,” said Gaude.
The Mashaal (torch) launch ceremony of 37th National Games 2023 will be held todayevening at Darbar Hall, Raj Bhavan at the hands of Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai.
The games are to be held in Goa from October 25 to November 9.
Several sports related organisations yesterday had announced that they will boycott the event as they were not given the promised funds to organise Sports Camps.
