PONDA: With the Government approving the proposal of Goa Dairy to hike milk prices, the customers who are hit by the skyrocketing prices of life essential commodities, including fuel, will now soon from the next few days have to spend Rs 4 more extra to buy one litre of Goa Dairy Milk.
After paying for continuous fuel hikes, the people will also now pay more for milk.
Following the constant rise in prices of raw materials and increased cost of transportation, the proposal was put by Goa Dairy to Government for a hike of Rs 4 per litre. The Administrator’s Committee of Goa Dairy, in its meeting held on 1 April, had resolved to raise the milk price and was waiting for the government’s nod. The hike will be implemented in the next few days.
After a hike of Rs 4 per litre, the Goa Dairy would directly benefit its farmers by hiking their procurement rates by 2 per litre. The rest will be on logistics and spent on running day-to-day affairs.
Goa Dairy sells four variants – Full cream (orange packets with 6 % fat and 9 % SNF), Standardised milk `Shakti` (green packets with 4.5 % fat and 8.5 % SNF)and toned milk under the brand name `Cold Gold` (blue packets with 3 per cent fat and 8.5%SNF) in the Goan retail market.
