New Delhi: In a remarkable display of prowess, MS Dhoni, at 43, has etched his name in the annals of cricket history by becoming the oldest player to win the Player of the Match award in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This achievement marks a significant milestone, breaking an 11-year-old record previously held by Pravin Tambe, who won the award at 42 years and 208 days in IPL 2014.
Dhoni’s match-winning performance led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a thrilling victory against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025. The match, held at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, saw CSK chase down a target of 167 runs in a nail-biting finale. Dhoni scored an impressive 26 runs off just 11 balls, playing a pivotal role in CSK’s success. His batting was marked by four fours and a six, cementing his reputation as one of cricket’s finest finishers.
The win not only ended CSK’s five-match losing streak but also marked a significant moment for Dhoni.
