PANAJI: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), North Goa, in coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), conducted a joint field inspection of flood-affected and landslide-prone locations in Sattari taluka as part of monsoon preparedness efforts.
The inspection covered vulnerable sites at Ghonteli in Keri, Anjunem Dam, Chorla Ghat and Morlem, where officials assessed ground conditions and reviewed preparedness measures in place to deal with potential monsoon-related emergencies.
According to officials, the exercise focused on identifying risks at vulnerable locations, reviewing mitigation measures, and strengthening coordination among various line departments involved in disaster management.
The team also interacted with local residents to understand ground-level concerns and enhance community preparedness for possible flooding and landslide incidents during the ongoing monsoon season.
Officials said the joint inspection was aimed at improving inter-agency coordination, enhancing operational readiness, and ensuring a timely and effective response to any emerging contingencies in the event of adverse weather conditions.
The initiative forms part of the district administration’s ongoing efforts to minimise risks and improve disaster response capabilities during the monsoon period.
