The Directorate of Food & Drugs Administration (FDA), Goa has set up Goa State Price Monitoring & Resource Unit Society (PMRU) with the help of National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, New-Delhi. The PMRU will function under the direct supervision of the Director, Food and Drug Administration; from the premises of Directorate; at Bambolim-Goa.
The primary objective of PMRU is to ensure availability of medicines throughout the State at the notified price; to monitor the prices of pharmaceutical formulations including medical devices; monitoring the price movement of scheduled and non-scheduled Pharmaceutical formulations; collection and compilation of market based data of pharmaceutical formulations; collecting test samples of medicines at the retail market to monitor the prices; and conducting training, seminars and workshops for generating consumer awareness.
The unit will function as a society; with a board of Governors; and will act as collaborating partners of NPPA with information gathering mechanism at the grass-roots level.
The Governing body of PMRU includes the representatives from Central Government and State Government along with other stakeholders. The Governing body is headed by Health Secretary, Shri. Amit Satija; (IAS) who is the chairman. The Director FDA; Smt. Jyoti J. Sardesai is the Member Secretary and Director, DHS; Dr. Jose D’Sa is the Vice Chairman. The members of the PMRU are Additional Secretary (Finance); Principal, Goa College of Pharmacy; President Goa Pharmaceutical Manufacturer’s Association; President Goa Chemist & Druggist Association; and Coordinator GOA CAN as informed by Department of Information and Publicity
