PANAJI: Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijai Sardesai has accused the BJP of allegedly benefiting from irregularities in the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Goa, demanding an inquiry and strict action from the Election Commission.
Sardesai has written to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), seeking intervention over the alleged improper shifting of voters between constituencies.
He claimed that around 50 voters from Curtorim had been shifted to Fatorda despite having voted twice in Curtorim, and termed the alleged manipulation a serious offence.
The GFP president also accused Goa BJP president Damu Naik of allegedly orchestrating the transfers for political gain. He has called for the removal of names allegedly shifted improperly and demanded accountability for the reported irregularities.
In a separate concern raised over the SIR process, Sardesai alleged that Nepali nationals had been enrolled as voters.
He questioned how foreign nationals could be included in India’s electoral rolls and sought clarification from the Election Commission of India.
Sardesai has also raised concerns over the alleged inclusion of ineligible voters through the use of identical house numbers across constituencies, claiming that the electoral roll revision process requires closer scrutiny.
