PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has warned that Panchayat Secretaries who unnecessarily obstruct or delay the implementation of the ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme will face suspension within eight days.
The Chief Minister issued the warning during the ‘Sarkar Tumchya Daari’ programme held at Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce in Pernem taluka, where he heard public grievances in the presence of Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar and officials from various government departments.
Taking a firm stand against bureaucratic hurdles, Sawant said strict action would be taken against Panchayat Secretaries who unnecessarily delay the process even after the required certificate has been issued by the Deputy Collector’s office.
He stressed that citizens should not face unnecessary difficulties in accessing government schemes and that officials must ensure the timely processing of applications and resolution of grievances.
The ‘Sarkar Tumchya Daari’ programme is being organised under the state government’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to bring administration closer to the people and provide citizens with a direct platform to raise their concerns with elected representatives and government officials.
The statewide initiative on October 17 is being conducted simultaneously across 10 talukas: Pernem, Salcete, Bicholim, Sattari, Tiswadi, Ponda, Mormugao, Sanguem, Dharbandora and Canacona. Sawant is leading the programme in Pernem, while designated state ministers are overseeing public interactions in the other talukas, supported by senior government officers.
Officials are assisting citizens with submitting grievances and directing them to the appropriate departments for necessary action. Appointments for interactions are being provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
