PANAJI: MLA & Chairman of the Goa Handicrafts, Rural, and Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd Pravin Arlekar said that Goa Handicrafts will promote artisans making clay Ganesh idols.
He told reporters, “The artisans who make Ganesh idols were not getting any support from the government,” following the distribution of subsidies under the Clay Ganesh Idol Scheme to support handicraft artisans. They use the idols they sell to illustrate their work.
However, they received no assistance for selling those idols. The government has chosen to grant them two emporiums for this reason. To take use of the advantages, I implore the artisans to get in touch with the Handicraft Department.
“The artisans were not receiving support for a variety of reasons, but now efforts are being made to support them in order to encourage them to pass on their art to the next generation,” Arlekar stated.
“The government cannot give everyone a job, but if someone has art, they can easily make a living,” he remarked.
